Senate Bill 2424

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION TO PURCHASE CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY LOCATED ON NORTH PRESIDENT STREET IN THE CITY OF JACKSON, HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Bureau of Building, Grounds and Real Property Management, Department of Finance and Administration, may purchase certain real property located at 222 North President Street in the City of Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, being more particularly described as follows:

A certain parcel of land being situated in a

part of Lot 6, Square 2 North, H.C. Daniel's Map

Of the City of Jackson, Mississippi (1875), and

being more particularly described as follows:

Commence at an existing 1/2" iron pin marking

the Point of Intersection of the South right-of-way

line of Yazoo Street with the East right-of-way

line of North President Street (as both are now

laid out and improved); run thence South 08 degrees

55 minutes 00 seconds West along said East

right-of-way line of North President Street for a

distance of 85.00 feet to an existing 1/2" iron pin

marking the POINT OF BEGINNING of the parcel of

land herein described; from said POINT OF BEGINNING

and leaving said East right-of-way line of North

President Street, run thence South 81 degrees 07

minutes 15 seconds East along the North face of the

building located at 222 North President Street and

the South face of the building located at 226 North

President Street for a distance of 80.14 feet to an

existing iron pin on the East line of said Lot 6,

Square 2 North; run thence South 08 degrees 55

minutes 00 seconds West along said East line of

Lot 6, Square 2 North for a distance of 108.05 feet

to a set 1/2" iron pin; leaving said East line of

Lot 6, Square 2 North, run thence North 81 degrees

27 minutes 51 seconds West for a distance of 80.15

feet to an existing 1/2" iron pin on the aforesaid

East right-of-way line of North President Street;

run thence North 08 degrees 55 minutes 00 seconds

East along said East right-of-way line of North

President Street for a distance of 108.53 feet to

the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing 8,678.83 square

feet, more or less.

(2) The Department of Finance and Administration may have the parcel of real property described in subsection (1) of this section surveyed.

(3) The real property described in subsection (1) of this section shall not be purchased for a price that exceeds the current fair market value as determined by the averaging of at least two (2) appraisals by qualified appraisers who shall be selected by the Department of Finance and Administration and shall be certified and licensed by the Mississippi Real Estate Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
