House Resolution 62

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2002-2003 SEASON AND FOR BEING THE RUNNERS-UP IN THE CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Boys Basketball Team finished the 2002-2003 season with an exceptional record of 30-5; and

WHEREAS, throughout their season, the Warriors participated in several tournaments, where they were victorious as the North Half Tournament Champions, Division 1-3A Tournament Champions, the Alcorn County Tournament Champions and were also the runners-up in the Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors have received excellent leadership and guidance from Coach David Robbins and Assistant Coach Keith Greene, who were able to direct and sharpen the skills of the players, which enabled the players to achieve their outstanding level of success this season; and

WHEREAS, Coach Robbins has brought additional honor to himself and to Corinth High School by being selected as the Daily Journal Coach of the Year 2003 and the Daily Corinthian Coach of the Year 2003, which indicates his great coaching talent; and

WHEREAS, several of the Warriors represent some of the best talent within the state and have been recognized for their skill, dedication and hard work, and have been named to several honorary teams, including the naming of Clarence Harvey and Galvin Davis to the All-District Team, the naming of Galvin Davis, Derrick Carpenter, Michael Crayton and Clarence Harvey to the All-North Half Team, and the naming of Darren Avery, Derrick Carpenter and Galvin Davis to the All-State Team, and the naming of Derrick Carpenter, Galvin Davis and Michael Crayton to the All-County Team; and

WHEREAS, with a positive, winning, and cooperative attitude and spirit, the Corinth High Warriors have brought additional honor and respect to Corinth High School by exhibiting the true characteristics of sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend the great talents of the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Warriors Basketball Team and Coach David Robbins for their outstanding 2002-2003 season, for winning several tournaments, for being the runners-up in the Class 3A State Championship and for having such dedication and zeal for the game of basketball.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Corinth High School, Coach David Robbins, Assistant Coach Keith Greene and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
