A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISS ASHLEY MEADOWS FOR RECEIVING A 2003 PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD.

WHEREAS, Ashley Meadows, an esteemed resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and a student at Ocean Springs High School, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2003 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

WHEREAS, Miss Meadows earned this prominent award by giving generously of her time and energy to provide much-needed art supplies to preschool children at a local battered women's shelter; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and pay tribute to a young person such as Ashley Meadows, who uses her considerable talents and resources to serve others to contribute to the overall vitality of American society:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend Miss Ashley Meadows for her exceptional volunteer service to her community and for receiving a notable 2003 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Ashley Meadows and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
