House Bill 1662

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE NORTH TUNICA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH OWNERS AND/OR DEVELOPERS TO ASSIST IN CONNECTION WITH THE COST OF INSTALLING FIRE SUPPRESSION SPRINKLER SYSTEMS IN STRUCTURES LOCATED WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE NORTH TUNICA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The board of Commissioners for the North Tunica County Fire Protection District is hereby authorized to reimburse up to sixty percent (60%) of the tax otherwise levied by the Board of Supervisors of Tunica County, Mississippi, and/or Board of Commissioners for the North Tunica County Fire Protection District pursuant to Section 19-5-189 in consideration for owners/developers installing fire protection sprinkler systems in new structures being constructed within the territory of the North Tunica County Fire Protection District. The North Tunica County Fire Protection District is authorized to refund an amount equal to sixty percent (60%) of the tax paid levied pursuant to Section 19-5-189, Mississippi Code of 1972, annually each year for a period not to exceed five (5) years. The tax rebate shall be made to the property owner and only one (1) rebate shall be made per property after the taxes have been paid.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
