Senate Resolution 1

A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A SELECT SENATE COMMITTEE ON THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI,

That there is hereby created a Select Senate Committee on the Civil Justice System to consider legislation introduced during the 2002 Third Extraordinary Session relating to: (a) the Mississippi civil justice system; (b) medical malpractice liability insurance; and (c) legislation related to these issues.

The committee shall be composed of thirteen (13) members of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate who shall also name the chairman and vice chairman of the committee. The committee may elect a secretary to keep all records of the committee. The committee shall operate under the Rules of the Senate. The committee shall employ no staff but shall utilize the clerical and legal staff already employed by the Senate. The committee shall be appointed as soon as possible after adoption of this resolution and shall be dissolved upon Sine Die adjournment of the Third Extraordinary Session of the 2002 Legislature.
