A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF OFFICER RONALD WAYNE JONES AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Officer Ronald Wayne Jones departed this life on December 26, 2001, while in the line of duty, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, a native of Prentiss, Mississippi, Officer Jones was born February 18, 1972, to Ronald and Donna Jones; and
WHEREAS, attending and graduating from Prentiss Christian School, Officer Jones, a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard, was a Prentiss policeman for four years, a K-9 officer and narcotics agent; and
WHEREAS, 29-year-old Officer Jones, diligent in service to law enforcement, was a dedicated and faithful member of Prentiss Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, working as a full-time officer under the administration of his father, who is the Prentiss Police Chief, Officer Jones came from a lineage of law enforcement, which began with his grandfather, who served as the Police Chief of Prentiss from 1959 to 1974, and also includes an uncle, Gary Jones, who served as Sheriff of Jefferson Davis County from 1978 to 1988; and
WHEREAS, Officer Jones leaves a host of relatives and friends to cherish his memory, including: parents, Ronald and Donna Jones; two brothers, his twin, Donald, and David; two sisters-in-law, Nicole and Julie; niece, Samantha; maternal grandfather, Charles Daniels; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Mrs. Christine and Mr. H.C. Everett; special friend, Mitsie Bullock; and Buzz, his devoted K-9 partner; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to pay special tribute to the life of such an outstanding individual as Officer Ronald Wayne Jones, whose dedication to serving and protecting the peace of the residents of Prentiss as a law enforcement agent was greatly appreciated:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Officer Ronald Wayne Jones and extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Officer Ronald Wayne Jones and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
