Senate Concurrent Resolution 560

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF ANN LAMBERT DAVIS AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Ann Lambert Davis departed this life on December 6, 2001, causing great loss to her family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, born in Gastonia, North Carolina, to Coit and Mickey Lambert, Ann Lambert Davis moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1962 and graduated from Cooper High School; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis attended Mississippi University for Women and graduated from Mississippi College; and

     WHEREAS, she married Landon Kimbrough "Kim" Davis and moved to Clinton, Mississippi, where upon graduation she taught special education classes at Lovett Elementary School; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis was very active in civic affairs, served as President of the PTA at Clinton Park Elementary and Clinton Junior High School, President of the Clinton Junior Civic League, and Legislative Chairman for the Mississippi Federation of Women's Clubs; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton, where she served as Worship Chairman and was instrumental in establishing kindergarten classes and a cub scout pack; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis was selected as Clinton's Woman of the Year, 1984, by the Clinton Chamber of Commerce; and

     WHEREAS, for the past 15 years, Mrs. Davis was Executive Director of the Independent Nursing Home Association of Mississippi, where she dedicated herself to the improvement of health care for elderly citizens of the state; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis worked tirelessly to help ensure the highest standard of nursing home care, and the ability of the nursing home industry to provide such care; and

     WHEREAS, because of her outstanding reputation for honesty and integrity, Mrs. Davis was routinely asked by the State Legislature for information and advice on issues related to health care legislation; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis was appointed by the Governor to serve on study committees to develop recommendations for improvement of health care in the state; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize the lives of outstanding Mississippians such as Ann Lambert Davis:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Ann Lambert Davis and express the sympathy of the Legislature on her passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Ann Lambert Davis and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
