A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. DAVID T. WILLS AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, David Thomas Wills, Director of the Sunday School Department at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB), died May 31, 2001, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi due to complications related to leukemia; and
WHEREAS, the departure of David Thomas Wills has caused great loss and pain to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Wills served as General Administration and Associational Consultant in the Sunday School Department at the MBCB from 1995-1998, before assuming the top post after former director Keith Wilkinson accepted a position with the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, prior to his MBCB ministry, Wills served as Minister of Education at First Church, Pearl, Mississippi (1992-1995) and First Church, Oxford, Mississippi (1989-1992); as Minister of Education, Youth and Recreation at First Church, Amory, Mississippi (1987-1989); and as interim Minister of Youth and Recreation at First Church, Clinton, Mississippi (1983-1984); and
WHEREAS, Wills was a graduate of Clinton High School, Mississippi College (B.S. 1984) in Clinton, Mississippi, and Southwestern Seminary (M.R.E. 1987) in Fort Worth, Texas; and
WHEREAS, David T. Wills is survived by his wife, Kathy Taylor Wills; son, Stephen Michael Wills; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Wills; and brother, Robert J. Wills, Jr.; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of David T. Wills and extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be furnished to the family of David T. Wills and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
