AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A MARINE PATROL OFFICER MAY ARREST WITHOUT WARRANT A PERSON IN MARINE WATERS IF THE PERSON WAS UNDER ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE BY ANOTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. A marine patrol officer may, without a warrant, arrest a person for any violation under this chapter, under Chapter 27 of Title 49, or under Chapter 21 of Title 59 while in the marine waters of this state, if the arresting officer or another law enforcement officer in communication with the arresting officer has sensory or electronic perception including but not limited to perception by radio, camera, or other reliable remote sensing devices.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
