A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE INGOMAR HIGH SCHOOL FALCONS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM ON THEIR OUTSTANDING 2001-2002 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE 1A CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Ingomar High School Falcons Boys Basketball Team completed the 2001-2002 season with a remarkable overall record of 36 wins and only two losses; and
WHEREAS, in addition to winning the Class 1A State Championship, the Falcons won the North Half State Championship and the Division 1A Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Falcons marched through several tournaments during the 2001-2002 season, winning the Myrtle Invitational Championship and the Union County Championship; and
WHEREAS, several individual honors have been bestowed among some of the Falcons, including the naming of Jerome Jones, Reggie Siddell and Shawn McDonald to the All-State Tournament Team; and
WHEREAS, the Falcons were superbly coached and inspired this season by Head Coach Norris Ashley and Assistant Coach Jonathan Ashley, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Falcons have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and this attitude reflects great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Ingomar High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our great state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ingomar High School Falcons Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Norris Ashley and Assistant Coach Jonathan Ashley for their outstanding 2001-2002 basketball season, for winning the State 1A Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ingomar High School, Head Coach Norris Ashley, Assistant Coach Jonathan Ashley and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
