House Resolution 25

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL GREEN WAVE GOLF TEAM ON ITS OUTSTANDING 2001-2002 SEASON AND ON WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Cathedral High School Green Wave Golf Team finished the 2001-2002 season with an outstanding record of eight wins and no losses; and

WHEREAS, the Green Wave played exceptionally well in tournaments and playoffs this year, winning the Natchez High School-Cathedral High School Tournament Championship and the District 6 Class 2A Championship before capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, many members of the golf team have received recognition for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, including: the naming of Stephen Hollingsworth to the All-District team and the All-State team as the team's Most Valuable Player, and as Outstanding Player in the Warren Central, Natchez-Cathedral and Vicksburg High School tournaments; Mark Carter to the All-District team and as Outstanding Player in the Warren Central and Natchez-Cathedral tournaments; and the selection of Tyler Crisp as Outstanding Player in the Natchez-Cathedral tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Green Wave has been superbly coached and inspired this season by Head Coach Paul Guido who has broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skill in execution; and

WHEREAS, members of the Cathedral High School Green Wave have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Cathedral High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Cathedral High School Green Wave Golf Team and their coach, Paul Guido, on their outstanding 2001 season and on winning the MHSAA Class 2A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion in all their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Cathedral High School, Head Coach Paul Guido and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
