A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. EVA ROITHMAYR FOR HER DEDICATED COMMUNITY SERVICES TO THE RESIDENTS OF MOSS POINT.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Eva Roithmayr, a native of Mexico, and resident of Moss Point, Mississippi, for 40 years, has continually endeavored to provide community services to the residents of Moss Point; and
WHEREAS, in her efforts to give back to the community, Mrs. Roithmayr, an experienced English and Spanish teacher, taught a four-month Spanish class to the officers of the Moss Point Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Roithmayr was reared in Mexico and attended the America School to learn English at the age of 13, and later studied to be a parliamentary bilingual secretary; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Roithmayr, while in Mexico, served as secretary to the head of the Latin American branch of a compressor company based in New York, also taught English briefly to sixth graders and adults; and
WHEREAS, a charter member of the Friends of the Moss Point City Library, which started in 1991, Mrs. Roithmayr, with an adamant love for teaching and community service, has taught periodically between 1969 and 1991 at Our Lady of Victories High School, West Elementary School and four local nurseries for preschoolers; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Roithmayr, in addition to teaching in the professional setting, has provided private lessons to adults, served as interpreter for NOAA scientific meetings, and has provided legal and scientific translations to members of the local community; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding individuals such as Mrs. Eva Roithmayr, who has seen an increasing need to give back to her community by teaching her native culture and language, which is becoming an important aspect of the American culture:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Eva Roithmayr for her unselfish dedication to community services in the Moss Point community and wish to extend our heartiest wishes for continued health, peace, happiness and success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Eva Roithmayr and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
