House Concurrent Resolution 77

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND SUPPORTING FEBRUARY 6, 2002, AS "RONALD REAGAN DAY" IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, on February 6, 2002, Ronald Reagan will celebrate his 91st birthday, and in honor of this occasion, the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project is encouraging all 99 state legislative bodies and all 50 governors to pass resolutions or enact proclamations declaring February 6, 2002, as "Ronald Reagan Day"; and

     WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan, a man of humble background, worked throughout his life serving freedom and advancing the public good, having been employed as an entertainer, Union leader, corporate spokesman, Governor of California and President of the United States; and

     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction for two terms as the 40th President of the United States of America; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Mississippi Legislature wish to express appreciation to President Reagan for his public service, and wish him improved health on the occasion of his birthday; and

     WHEREAS, last year 16 governors, including the governors of our neighboring sister states of Arkansas and Louisiana, signed proclamations, and 29 legislative chambers passed resolutions, honoring Ronald Reagan on his birthday:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and support the observance of February 6, 2002, as "Ronald Reagan Day."
