A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISS JALIN WOOD UPON BEING NAMED MISSISSIPPI MISS HOSPITALITY 2001.
WHEREAS, Miss Jalin Wood, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Wood of Waynesboro, Mississippi, was crowned Mississippi Miss Hospitality 2001 after competing against thirty-three other contestants in the Miss Hospitality Pageant recently held in Hattiesburg; and
WHEREAS, Miss Wood, a very active and outgoing student during her high school years, graduated salutatorian from Wayne Academy in 1999; and
WHEREAS, Miss Wood's activities at Wayne Academy included participation in a number of clubs and organizations, such as the National Honor Society, Spanish Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, in addition to her representation of her school as an All-American Cheerleader, senior homecoming maid and page for the Mississippi House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS, Miss Wood currently attends Mississippi College, where she is a junior majoring in chemistry; and
WHEREAS, a member of the Laguna social tribe, Miss Wood has actively represented her fellow students at Mississippi College as a freshman senator, sophomore homecoming maid, Mississippi College cheerleader, member of Alpha Lambda Delta and as Treasurer of the American Chemical Society; and
WHEREAS, as Mississippi Miss Hospitality 2001, Miss Wood will spend the next year traveling throughout the state and country promoting Mississippi's tourism, industry and economic development; and
WHEREAS, Miss Wood will serve as Mississippi's goodwill ambassador for one year, representing the Magnolia State's hospitality to everyone she meets; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, as evidenced by the beautiful and talented young lady, Miss Jalin Wood:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Miss Jalin Wood upon being named Mississippi Miss Hospitality 2001 and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Jalin Wood and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
