AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF JASPER COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY AN ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT ON ALL TRAFFIC FINES IN WHICH THE DEFENDANT IS FOUND GUILTY; TO PROVIDE THAT THE AVAILS OF SUCH ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT SHALL BE EXPENDED TO SUPPORT LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN JASPER COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Jasper County, Mississippi, in its discretion, is authorized by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, to levy an assessment, in addition to any other assessments and court costs, not to exceed One Dollar ($1.00), on all traffic fines in which the defendant is found guilty.
(2) The avails of the additional assessment pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be expended, in the discretion of the Board of Supervisors of Jasper County, Mississippi, for the support of local fire departments in Jasper County, Mississippi.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
