AN ACT TO PROHIBIT SUITS BY NONRESIDENTS OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI WHERE NO CONTACTS WITH THE STATE EXIST; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) A nonresident of the State of Mississippi may not bring a civil action in any court within the State of Mississippi if the nonresident has no contacts, interest or claim in the state or if the claim did not arise out of any transaction or occurrence in the state.
(2) This section shall apply to any civil action pending or filed on or after July 1, 2002.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
