AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 21-27-27, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE MUNICIPAL UTILITIES TO FURNISH SERVICES, FREE OF CHARGE, TO NATIONAL GUARD ARMORIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 21-27-27, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
21-27-27. No free service shall be furnished by any such system, or combined system, to any private person, firm, corporation or association. The municipality * * *, however, may furnish such service, free of charge, to the municipality or any agency or department of the municipality, * * * any public school, National Guard armory or * * * any hospital or benevolent institution located within such municipality, including county, city and community fairs.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
