AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE PERFORMING OF ABORTIONS AND THE TEACHING OF THE PROCEDURE FOR PERFORMING ABORTIONS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI MEDICAL CENTER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 37-115-32, Mississippi Code of 1972:
37-115-32. (1) No physician or other person shall perform an abortion at any facility of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, whether the facility is located at the main campus in the City of Jackson or at another location.
(2) The University of Mississippi Medical Center shall not teach the procedure for performing an abortion at the School of Medicine or at any other institution that is part of the medical center, whether the institution is located at the main campus in the City of Jackson or at another location.
(3) As used in this section, the term "abortion" shall be defined as provided in Section 41-41-31.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2002.
