AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

Senate Bill NO. 2145

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

SECTION 1. (1) No person may represent himself to the public as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) unless he has been certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and such certification has not lapsed.

(2) No person may represent himself to the public as an Associate Safety Professional (ASP) unless he has been recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and such recognition has not lapsed.

(3) No person may represent himself to the public as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) unless he has been jointly certified as such by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.

(4) No person may represent himself to the public as a Construction Health and Safety Technologist (CHST) unless he has been jointly certified as such by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.

(5) No person may represent himself to the public as a Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) unless he has been certified by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management and such certification has not lapsed.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.

Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT ANY PERSON FROM REPRESENTING HIMSELF TO THE PUBLIC AS A CERTIFIED SAFETY PROFESSIONAL, ASSOCIATE SAFETY PROFESSIONAL, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY TECHNOLOGIST, CERTIFIED HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MANAGER OR CONSTRUCTION SAFETY AND HEALTH TECHNOLOGIST, UNLESS THE PERSON HAS BEEN CERTIFIED BY CERTAIN PROFESSIONAL BOARDS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
