AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO
House Bill NO. 886

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. (1) That portion of Mississippi Highway 25 within Leake County shall be known and designated as "Purple Heart Memorial Drive."
(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.
SECTION 2. Section 65-3-71.57, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
65-3-71.57. (1) That portion of U.S. Interstate 20 within the State of Mississippi * * * shall be known as the "31st Infantry Division Memorial Highway."
(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO DESIGNATE THAT PORTION OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 25 WITHIN LEAKE COUNTY AS "PURPLE HEART MEMORIAL DRIVE"; TO AMEND SECTION 65-3-71.57, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DESIGNATE ALL OF U.S. INTERSTATE 20 WITHIN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AS THE 31ST INFANTRY DIVISION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
