AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO
Senate Bill NO. 3055

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Budget Contingency Fund created in Senate Bill No. 2680, 2001 Regular Session, for the support and maintenance of the Minimum Education Program, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001 $17,000,000.00.
With the funds herein appropriated, the State Department of Education may transfer an amount not to exceed Two Million Six Hundred One Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-eight Dollars ($2,601,338.00) to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning for the support and maintenance of the Critical Needs Teacher Scholarship Program.
SECTION 2. In addition to all other sums heretofore authorized, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby authorized for expenditure by the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning out of any money available to support the Critical Needs Teacher Scholarship
Program for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001
$ 1,078,603.00.
SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF FULLY FUNDING THE MINIMUM EDUCATION PROGRAM; TO PROVIDE AUTHORITY FOR THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO TRANSFER FUNDS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING FOR THE SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE CRITICAL NEEDS TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM; AND TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SPENDING AUTHORITY TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING NEEDED TO FULLY FUND THE CRITICAL NEEDS TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001.
