AMEND after the words "State General Fund" on line 51 by adding a period and striking the rest of the sentence through line 54 and inserting the following two new paragraphs:

The remainder of the tax collections apportioned to the state under this section for the period beginning after December 31, 2000, through the end of Fiscal Year 2002 shall be deposited into the Budget Contingency Fund created in this section, and for the Fiscal Years 2003 through 2005 shall be deposited into the State General Fund. Pursuant to this section, all monies in the Budget Contingency Fund and monies deposited in the State General Fund under this section shall be appropriated by the Legislature for the support of the Minimum Education Program or to the Mississippi Adequate Education Program as successor to the Minimum Education Program.

There is created in the State Treasury a special fund to be known as the Budget Contingency Fund, into which the funds described in the preceding paragraph shall be deposited. All funds in the Budget Contingency Fund shall be available for appropriation by the Legislature.

AMEND FURTHER by striking Section 2, 3 and 4 and renumbering the succeeding section.

AMEND FURTHER THE TITLE by striking all after the semicolon on line 4 through the semicolon on line 8.
