AN ACT TO PROVIDE A PENALTY FOR ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES A LAW ESTABLISHED FOR THE PROTECTION OF PADDLEFISH OR WHO COMMITS WASTE BY DISCARDING PADDLEFISH INTO THE WATERS OF THIS STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Any person who takes or possesses a paddlefish in violation of law or who commits waste by discarding any parts of such fish into the waters of this state, may be guilty of a Class I violation and may be punished as provided in Section 49-7-141.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effective and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
