AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-9-153, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT AN EMPLOYEE OF ANY STATE AGENCY, DEPARTMENT, BOARD, COMMISSION, INSTITUTION OR OTHER INSTRUMENTALITY OF THE STATE MAY OPERATE A STATE-OWNED MOTOR VEHICLE IF THE EMPLOYEE HAS A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE FROM A CONTIGUOUS STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 25-9-153, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
25-9-153. (1) An employee of any state agency, department, board, commission, institution or other instrumentality of the state may not operate a state-owned motor vehicle unless such person has a valid Mississippi driver's license or a valid driver's license from a contiguous state.
(2) A violation of subsection (1) of this section constitutes good cause for dismissal from employment.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
