AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 41-57-47, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DELETE THE SPECIFIC FEE THAT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH COLLECTS TO CERTIFY ANY COPY OF A MARRIAGE RECORD WHEN USED AS PRIMA FACIE EVIDENCE IN ANY COURT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.
SECTION 1. Section 41-57-47, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
41-57-47. Any copy of the records of marriages, when properly certified to by the State Registrar of Vital Statistics, to be a true copy thereof, shall be taken and received as prima facie evidence of the facts therein stated in all courts of this state. For any such certified copy, the applicant shall pay such fee for transactions to the Bureau of Vital Statistics, which said fees shall be paid into the State Treasury within sixty (60) days from the receipt thereof.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
