A RESOLUTION COMMENDING JOHN EDWARD JACKSON UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM UNITED PARCEL SERVICE.

WHEREAS, Mr. John Edward Jackson is retiring from United Parcel Service, having worked there for over 30 years; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Marshall High School in 1965, Mr. Jackson attended Mississippi Valley State University; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson was the first African-American to be hired at United Parcel Service in Greenwood, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, throughout his employment with UPS, Mr. Jackson has received numerous awards for his outstanding performance including the Mid-South District Circle of Honor, awarded to those employees who have more than 25 years of safe driving; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson is an active member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where he serves as President of the Usher Board, a lead vocalist in the male choir and a member of the board of trustees; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his wife, Tallie; two stepsons, one deceased; and 11 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. Jackson:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. John Edward Jackson upon his retirement and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. John Edward Jackson and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
