House Resolution 49

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE INGOMAR BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM ON THEIR OUTSTANDING 2000-2001 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Ingomar High School Falcon Boys Basketball Team completed the 2000-2001 season with an overall record of 31 wins and only six losses; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons finished the 2000-2001 season with a terrific performance in the Class 1A State Championship finishing third; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons marched through several tournaments during the 2000-2001 season, including the Myrtle Invitational Championship and the Union County Championship, which propelled the Falcons into the Class 1A North State Championship that produced a solid third place effort in the overall state tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons were superbly coached and inspired this season by Head Coach Norris Ashley and Assistant Coach Jonathan Ashley, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and this attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Ingomar High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our great state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ingomar High School Falcon Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Norris Ashley and Assistant Coach Jonathan Ashley for their outstanding 2000-2001 basketball season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ingomar High School, Head Coach Norris Ashley and Assistant Coach Jonathan Ashley and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
