House Resolution 32
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE KOSSUTH HIGH SCHOOL LADY AGGIES SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE 2000 SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Kossuth High School Lady Aggies Slow Pitch Softball Team finished the 2000 season with a remarkable record of 40 wins and three losses, having gone undefeated during the regular season with a record of 35-0; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Aggies won several tournament and playoff championships including the Kossuth Round-Robin Tournament, the North Pontotoc Invitational Tournament, the Alcorn County Championship, Division I Class 3A Championship and the North State Championship; and
WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated play this season, including: the naming of Allison Reader and Ashley Jones as Division I-3A Co-Players of the Year and as Daily Corinthian Co-Players of the Year; the selection of Brandie Bobo and Heather Nails to the All-State Team; the naming of Ashley Jones, Allison Reader and Serra Beth Vansandt to the Daily Journal All-Area Team; the selection of Brandie Bobo, Serra Beth Vansandt, LiShal Hopper, Ashley Wilbanks, Heather Nails, Latasha Essary, Mary Allison Potts and Bethany Sherard to the All-Division I-3A Team; and the naming of Brandie Bobo, LiShal Hopper, Serra Beth Vansandt, Bethany Sherard and Latasha Essary to the Daily Corinthian All-Area Team; and
WHEREAS, the Kossuth High School Lady Aggies have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Alan Wood and Assistant Coaches Lisa Wood and Rodney Hopper, who have broadened the Aggies' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Alan Wood has brought additional honor to Kossuth High School by receiving the Division I Class 3A Coaching Staff of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Aggies have developed a winning attitude and cooperative spirit, and their activities and attitude reflect great promise in the lives of Mississippi's youth; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Kossuth High School Lady Aggies Slow Pitch Softball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Alan Wood and Assistant Coaches Lisa Wood and Rodney Hopper, for their phenomenal 2000 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kossuth High School, Head Coach Alan Wood and Assistant Coaches Lisa Wood and Rodney Hopper and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
