A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAKE ATTENDANCE CENTER LADY HORNETS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Lake Attendance Center Lady Hornets Basketball Team completed their 2000-2001 season with an astonishing record of 34 wins and only three losses; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets dominated their opponents in Class 1A during the 2000-2001 season by winning the Division 6-1A Championship and the South State 1A Championship, which propelled the Lady Hornets into the Class 1A State Championship where they captured the 1A State title; and
WHEREAS, the talents of the Lady Hornets for the 2000-2001 season have been showcased through the many individual awards received by the players, including: the naming of Roxana Rogers, Kim Cox and Kimyatta Viverette to the All-Division Tournament Team, the All-South State Tournament Team and the All-State Tournament Team; and the selection of Odena Cox to the All-Division Tournament Team and as the Most Valuable Player in the Scott County Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets have been taught the fundamentals of the game and inspired by Head Coach Bill Ingersoll, who also has been honored with many awards for his coaching abilities during the 2000-2001 season, including being selected as the Division 6-1A Coach of the Year as well as being named State 1A Coach of the Year, which, along with the 1A Championship, has proven Coach Ingersoll's tireless devotion and love for the Lady Hornets; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and shown a high degree of sportsmanship during the 2000-2001 campaign, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Lake Attendance Center; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our great state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Lake Attendance Center Lady Hornets Basketball Team and Head Coach Bill Ingersoll for their outstanding 2000-2001 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Lake Attendance Center, Head Coach Bill Ingersoll and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
