A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE JONES COUNTY JUNIOR COLLEGE LADY BOBCATS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats Basketball Team finished the season with an outstanding record of 23 wins and only 7 losses; and

WHEREAS, the 2000-2001 Lady Bobcats Basketball Team consists of the following players: Brittany Sumrall, Jenny Porter, Tammika Sims, Kim Braddock, Jeanella McMillan, Demesha Chambers, September Harrison, Rani Webb, Mia McMillan, Ebony Johnson and Aletha Ingram; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bobcats have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Sandra Sumrall and Assistant Coach Dereta Jones, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, in addition, the Lady Bobcats have been supported by George Harrison, Athletic Director; Jeff Davis, Athletic Trainer; Leslie Hall, Student Trainer; Bobbie Gail Graham, Statistician; and Jack Fairchild and Catrena Talbert, Managers; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bobcats developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Jones County Junior College; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Mississippi House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats Basketball Team, Head Coach Sandra Sumrall and Assistant Coach Dereta Jones for their phenomenal 2000-2001 season, for winning the State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Jones County Junior College, Head Coach Sandra Sumrall and Assistant Coach Dereta Jones and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
