A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WEST LAUDERDALE HIGH SCHOOL "KNIGHTS" GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM IN COLLINSVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, AND COACH JERRY BOATNER FOR THEIR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR BEING VOTED THE NUMBER 1 TEAM IN THE STATE.

WHEREAS, the West Lauderdale High School "Knights" Girls Softball Team has won its 5th Class AAA State Championship and has been voted the Number 1 Team in the state; and

WHEREAS, the "Knight's" final record in this 2000 championship season was 40 wins and 4 losses; and

WHEREAS, prior to winning the Class AAA State Championship, the team won the Meridian Invitational Tournament, the Morton Invitational Tournament and the District Championship; and

WHEREAS, Coach Jerry Boatner and Assistant Coach Jody Hurst are to be congratulated for training and leading this championship team; and

WHEREAS, the 2000 "Knights" Softball Team roster is as follows: Ashley Jackson, Megan Deesc, Danyell Weir, Jafinas Huggins (JJ), Ashley Harbour, Kirby Rutledge, Brandie Landrum, Katie Moulds, Holly Kimbrough, Holly Herrington, Alyssa Cheek, Mandy McAllister, Brittany Mosley, Hayley Scarborough, Brook Bounds, Amber Joyner, Emily Havard, Courtney Godwin, Jessica Moore, Rachael Espey, Jessica Ethridge, Keely Rutledge, Amy Frazier, Jennifer Huggins, Shari Randall and Kristina Gardner; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the spectacular season of this great group of student athletes which has brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the West Lauderdale "Knights" Girls Softball Team of Collinsville, Mississippi, and Coach Jerry Boatner for their outstanding 2000 State Championship Season and for being voted the Number 1 Team in the state and wish them continued success in their future athletic and scholastic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Jerry Boatner on behalf of the "Knights" Softball Team and the Principal of West Lauderdale High School, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
