A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. JAMES DUNN UPON BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Dr. James Dunn, a resident of Gautier, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from the nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators, on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Dunn, a biology instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 11 years and has taught for the past 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Dunn received his bachelor's degree from Arkansas Tech University, and a master's degree and doctorate degree in marine biology/science education from the University of Southern Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. James Dunn has served as Science Department Chairman, consultant for Environmental Research and Technology, Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer and Vice Commander of 403 Support Groups; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers such as Dr. Dunn, who has dedicated his career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. James Dunn upon being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to him our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. James Dunn and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
