A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. JOHN PAUL PRICHETT, SR., AND EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Mr. John Paul Pritchett, Sr., departed this life Sunday, September 3, 2000, causing a great loss to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pritchett, a forestry crew chief for the Mississippi Forestry Commission, passed away at the Mississippi Memorial Firefighters Burn Center in Greenville, Mississippi, of burns received on August 20, 2000, fighting a wildfire; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pritchett, a resident of Webster County, was a Mason and a member of the Bellefontaine Masonic Lodge; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pritchett is survived by his lovely wife, Kay; three children, John, Joyce and Jean-Anne; one grandchild; mother, Barbara Pritchett and sister, Faye Perkins;
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend courage and bravery in outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. Pritchett, who devoted his life to serving and protecting others:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. John Paul Pritchett, Sr., and express our deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. John Paul Pritchett, Sr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
