House Concurrent Resolution 37
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. SANDY GRISHAM UPON BEING NAMED NORTHWEST'S HUMANITIES TEACHER FOR 2000.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sandy Grisham has been named Northwest's Humanities Teacher for 2000; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from St. Louis Community College, Mrs. Grisham attended the University of Missouri in St. Louis, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees and has done advanced study at the University of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, in her 12th year at Northwest, Mrs. Grisham teaches classes such as distance learning, virtual college and remote sensing technologies; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Grisham has been a sponsor of Phi Theta Kappa, sponsor of Society of Prelaw Majors, advisor for prelaw students, organizer of the study abroad program and initiator of the Honors Program; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Grisham has received numerous awards, including her selection as a Lamplighter and a recipient of a Fulbright Seminars Abroad Fellowship, where she spent two months in Pakistan; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Grisham has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Dr. Vaughn Grisham; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding educators such as Mrs. Grisham, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Sandy Grisham upon being named Northwest's Humanities Teacher for 2000 and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Sandy Grisham and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
