House Concurrent Resolution 31
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUIRING THE MISSISSIPPI SECRETARY OF STATE TO STUDY FEASIBILITY OF A UNIFORM STATEWIDE ELECTORAL PROCESS.
WHEREAS, the closeness of the 1999 Gubernatorial Election and the 2000 Presidential Election reveals the importance of every vote and how those votes should be counted; and
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi uses several different types of machines to count the votes cast in any given election; and
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi should seek to have a uniform election system that prevents fraud, eliminates voter confusion and brings all 82 counties into a uniform process:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby require the Mississippi Secretary of State to study the feasibility of a uniform statewide electoral process.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Secretary of State and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
