AN ACT AMEND CHAPTER 910, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1998, TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF STONE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO INCREASE THE ASSESSMENT, IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER ASSESSMENTS AND COURT COSTS, TO FUND CRIMESTOPPERS OF SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Chapter 910, Local and Private Laws of 1998, is amended as follows:
Section 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Stone County, Mississippi, in its discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, may levy an assessment, in addition to any other assessments and court costs, not to exceed Four Dollars ($4.00) per case for each misdemeanor case processed through the justice court of the county.
(2) The avails of the additional assessment imposed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be paid, at such times as the board of supervisors shall determine appropriate, to Crimestoppers of Southeast Mississippi for use in procuring information which will lead to the capture and conviction of persons committing crimes in Stone County.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
