AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO INSTALL RUMBLE STRIPS ALONG THE SHOULDERS OF ALL NEWLY CONSTRUCTED OR RESURFACED ROADWAYS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. From and after July 1, 2001, whenever any highway, road or street under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Department of Transportation is newly constructed or resurfaced, or the shoulders of which are improved, the department shall include as a part of such project installation along the shoulders or edges of the roadway of rumble strips or similar traffic safety features, by whatever name known, designed for the purpose of creating an audible warning to a motor vehicle operator whose vehicle travels off of the primary driving surface of the roadway.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
