AN ACT TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN SEGMENTS OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 28 AND U.S. HIGHWAY 61 IN JEFFERSON COUNTY AS STATE HIGHWAYS AND TO PLACE SUCH SEGMENTS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE MISSISSIPPI TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR MAINTENANCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following highways are designated as a state highway and are placed under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Transportation Commission for maintenance; and such highways, together with the highways designated in Section 65-3-3 and all other laws adding links to the designated state highway system, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi:

Central District - Jefferson County:

Those portions of Mississippi Highway 28 and U.S. Highway 61 in Jefferson County that were maintained before July 1, 2001, by the City of Fayette and Jefferson County.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
