AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE PRESENCE OF A LICENSED PHYSICIAN OR SPORTS MEDICINE SPECIALIST AT FOOTBALL GAMES AND OTHER HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC EVENTS INVOLVING SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL CONTACT BETWEEN THE PARTICIPANTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The State Board of Education shall require the presence of a licensed physician or specialist holding a degree in sports medicine at all high school football games, major contact football practices and other athletic events commonly characterized by a significant degree of physical contact between the participants in the athletic event.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
