AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS TO CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF THE BUCCANEER STATE PARK, HANCOCK COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO DETERMINE THE IMPACT OF ENTERING INTO A JOINT VENTURE WITH A PRIVATE ENTITY FOR THE GROWTH AND EXPANSION OF THE STATE PARK; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks shall implement a study on the feasibility of entering into a joint venture with a private entity for the growth and expansion of the Buccaneer State Park water or family amusement facilities. The study should concentrate on the economic impact of entering into a joint venture with a private entity where the private entity shall be primarily responsible for funding the expansion project and the building of additional amusement facilities.

(2) In conducting its activities, the department may elicit the support of and participation by any commercial, industrial, governmental, environmental, minority and public interest organizations and associations, or individual members thereof, and any federal, state and local agencies and political subdivisions as may be necessary or appropriate in the furtherance of the study.

(3) The department shall prepare a report of the study with recommendations and file the report with the Legislature by December 31, 2001.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
