AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE POLICE ESCORTS FOR TRAVELING GROUPS REPRESENTING PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. It shall be lawful for law enforcement officers to provide escort services for persons representing any public institution when it is the opinion of the appropriate law enforcement agency that escort services are necessary for the safe transportation of such persons. The protection provided in Section 11-46-1, et seq. for law enforcement officers and governmental entities shall apply when such escort services are provided.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
