AN ACT TO PROHIBIT PREDICTING ELECTION RESULTS BEFORE VOTING POLLS ARE CLOSED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, corporation, association or other entity to report any predictions as to the outcome of any election before all voting polls have closed. The only information that may be reported regarding an election while the polls are open shall be the actual results of official counted ballots. Violations of this section, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00).
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
