House Bill 181
AN ACT TO CREATE A NEW CODE SECTION THAT RESTRICTS BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS FROM ELUDING, OBSTRUCTING OR SURPASSING THE AUTHORITY OF MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any business improvement district established or extended pursuant to the provisions of Sections 21-43-101 through 21-43-133, shall not impede, circumvent or supersede the authority of municipal governments.
SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall be codified in Chapter 43, Title 21, Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
