House Bill 120
AN ACT TO PROHIBIT PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND PUBLIC EMPLOYEES FROM RECOMMENDING OR ENDORSING THE PURCHASE OF GOODS OR SERVICES BY THEIR EMPLOYING ENTITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any appointed or elected public official or any employee of the state or any political subdivision to recommend or endorse the purchase of any goods or services by the entity for which such public official or employee is serving or employed. A person violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned for not more than one (1) year, or both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
