A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND WILLIE L. "BOB" HUDSON FOR HIS LONGTIME DEDICATED SERVICE TO OAK GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH.

WHEREAS, Willie L. "Bob" Hudson was born November 17, 1921, in Kemper County, Mississippi, to Tom Hudson and the former Jennie Holmes; and

WHEREAS, he enlisted in the United States Army in the early 1940's, serving his country over three years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson received the Purple Heart in 1946; and

WHEREAS, he married the former Verell Jackson of Preston, Mississippi, and although they had no children, the Hudsons helped raise Mrs. Hudson's nieces and nephew; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson was instrumental in bringing Headstart to Kemper County and to the Preston Community; and

WHEREAS, disabled from his military service, Mr. Hudson served as a driver for Headstart and supervised the combined operations of the family farms of the Wil Jackson descendants; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson is also active in his church and community, serving as a Deacon and Treasurer of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years; and

WHEREAS, he also served as Treasurer of the Kemper County Branch of the NAACP; and

WHEREAS, over 14 years after the death of the first Mrs. Hudson, he married the former Ruby Hampton of DeKalb, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Willie L. "Bob" Hudson has been a stalwart supporter and hero of the faith at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Willie L. "Bob" Hudson for his longtime dedicated service to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Mr. Hudson and to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
