TO THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE:

GOVERNOR'S VETO MESSAGE FOR SENATE BILL 2437

I am returning Senate Bill No. 2437: "AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 43-20-5, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY CERTAIN EXEMPTIONS AND PROVIDE CERTAIN DEFINITIONS UNDER THE CHILD CARE FACILITY LICENSURE LAW; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES' without my approval, and assign the following reasons for my veto:

While this bill provides some important clarification needed in the licensing law for child care facilities, an inadvertent omission occurred in an amendment which causes me to veto this bill. The veto comes with the support of members of the legislature who were proponents of the bill. I forsee no problem for a subsequent bill correcting the omission.
