House Bill NO. 402

AMEND by striking the sentence beginning with the word "In" on line 97 through the period on line 102 and inserting the following in lieu thereof:

"The board of supervisors of any county that is required to operate on a countywide system of road administration, in its discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, may call for an election to be held at the November 2003 general election on the question of whether the county wishes to return to the beat system of county government."

AMEND FURTHER the title by striking the language beginning with the word "PROVIDE" on line 2 through the word "ADMINISTRATION" on line 4 and inserting the following in lieu thereof: "AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ANY COUNTY THAT IS REQUIRED TO OPERATE ON A COUNTYWIDE SYSTEM OF ROAD ADMINISTRATION, IN ITS DISCRETION, TO CALL FOR AN ELECTION AT THE NOVEMBER 2003 GENERAL ELECTION"
