REPORT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
MR. PRESIDENT AND MR. SPEAKER:
We, the undersigned conferees, have had under consideration the amendments to the following entitled BILL:
S. B. No. 3278: Appropriation; Bureau of Narcotics.
We, therefore, respectfully submit the following report and recommendation:
1. That the House recede from its Amendment No. 1.
2. That the Senate and House adopt the following amendment:
AMEND as follows:
Line 11: Delete $12,015,775.00; insert $12,079,783.00
Line 26: Delete $8,000,000.00; insert $8,064,008.00
Line 34: Delete $13,358,540.00; insert $13,422,548.00
Line 36: Delete $12,015,775.00; insert $12,079,783.00
Line 38: Delete $13,358,540.00; insert $13,422,548.00
INSERT a new Section 6, a new Section 7, and a new Section 8, and renumber subsequent sections, said new sections to read as follows:
SECTION 6. The following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby reappropriated out or any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Bureau of Narcotics of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety for the purpose of reauthorizing the expenditure of State General Funds, as authorized in Senate Bill No. 3160, Regular Session of 1999, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and ending June 30, 2001 $ 1,000,000.00.
Notwithstanding the amount reappropriated under the provisions of this section, in no event shall the amount expended exceed the unexpended balance as of June 30, 2000.
SECTION 7. With the funds provided in this act, the Bureau of Narcotics may conduct a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Training Academy approved and certified by the Board on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training.
SECTION 8. The Director of the Bureau of Narcotics may on a case by case basis, within the funds available, recommend that corrective salary adjustments be made to the compensation of employees of the Bureau of Narcotics where an inequity was created between employees of equivalent capacity by previous application of the agency appropriation acts. Any such corrective salary adjustment must have prior approval by the State Personnel Board. Such adjustments will not be retroactive.
