REPORT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
MR. PRESIDENT AND MR. SPEAKER:
We, the undersigned conferees, have had under consideration the amendments to the following entitled BILL:
S. B. No. 2931: Statewide trauma care system; hospitals located in contiguous states may participate.
We, therefore, respectfully submit the following report and recommendation:
1. That the Senate concur in House Amendment No. 1 with the following exception(s):
AMEND by striking lines 53 through 59 and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
(l) "Trauma care facility" or "trauma center" means a hospital located in the State of Mississippi or a Level I trauma care facility or center located in a state contiguous to the State of Mississippi that has been designated by the department to perform specified trauma care services within a trauma care system pursuant to standards adopted by the department. Participation in this designation by each hospital is voluntary;
FURTHER AMEND by striking Sections 2 and 3 and renumbering subsequent section(s) accordingly.
FURTHER AMEND by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 41-59-3, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT LEVEL I TRAUMA FACILITIES LOCATED IN CONTIGUOUS STATES MAY BE DESIGNATED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AS PART OF THE STATEWIDE TRAUMA CARE SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
2. That the House concur in the above exception(s).
