REPORT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
MR. SPEAKER AND MR. PRESIDENT:
We, the undersigned conferees, have had under consideration the amendments to the following entitled BILL:
H. B. No. 419: Prekindergarten through kindergarten teachers license; authorize for certain holders of Bachelor of Science Degree.
We, therefore, respectfully submit the following report and recommendation:
1. That the Senate recede from its Amendment No. 1.
2. That the House and Senate adopt the following amendment:
AMEND on line 255 by inserting the following language after the period: "Effective May 15, 1997, the valid standard license held by an educator shall be extended five (5) years beyond the expiration date of the license in order to afford the educator adequate time to fulfill new renewal requirements established pursuant to this subsection. An educator completing a master of education, educational specialist or doctor of education degree in May 1997 for the purpose of upgrading the educator's license to a higher class shall be given this extension of five (5) years plus five (5) additional years for completion of a higher degree."
AMEND FURTHER the title on line 6 by inserting a comma immediately after the word "SCIENCES" and the following language:
"AND TO REQUIRE THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO EXTEND THE LICENSES OF CERTAIN EDUCATORS WHO HAVE COMPLETED A MASTER'S, SPECIALIST OR DOCTORATE DEGREE IN ORDER TO AFFORD SUCH EDUCATORS
ADEQUATE TIME TO FULFILL NEW RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD"
